ERGOTHERAPY

CLINIQUE D’ERGOTHÉRAPIE ERGOSPEC

Who are we?

We are a small occupational therapy clinic providing personalised services for our clients since 1998. Mostly, we offer treatment and rehabilitation services for workers following work related (CSST) or car accident related (SAAQ) injuries.

We support our clients in their return to an active life and to work with the collaboration of a multi-disciplinary team which includes medical services (physicians), pharmacy, physiotherapy, osteopathy, acupuncture and psychology.

Rehabilitation and treatments:

The occupational therapist role in rehabilitation:

The occupational therapist (OT) evaluates the functional capacities of an individual in the sphere of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), of IADL (Instrumental Activities of Daily), leisure and work while taking into a consideration his physical, social and cultural environment. The OT, with a collaboration of the client, establishes an intervention plan and the client starts a therapeutic activity programme including functional activities, work stimulation, learning of an adequate postural hygiene, energy conservation and pain management. The OT works together with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that the client is able to re-integrate gradually his significant activities and his employment safely and lastingly.

Types of client :

    • Musculoskeletal injuries (cervical, dorsal and lumbar strains, shoulder and elbows tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, knee and ankle strains).
    • Hand injuries (fractures, lacerations, amputations)

WORK STATION EVALUATION:

Occupational therapist evaluates if the work station is adequate and, if needed, makes appropriate recommendations to increase comfort, efficiency and safety of the client.

DRIVING CAPACITY EVALUATION :

Occupational therapist is the health care professional mandated by the SAAQ to evaluate individual’s functional capacities, mental and physical aptitude to drive.

In our clinic, we offer you the driving evaluation that is separated in two sections. First, in house evaluation (which can be done at the clinic or in your home) and second, a road evaluation (in the vicinity of our clinic or of your house). A driving retraining program is available afterwards if needed. Our occupational therapist is certified by the Driving Evaluation Program from McGill University.
